Cider Apples

Most apples, and certainly cider apples, tend to have medium to high chill requirements. Most also require a pollination partner (or two) as few are self-fertile. Varieties are chosen that have the same flowering period (group) so that the chance of pollination and fruit production is high. You can also pollinate many apple trees with white-flowered crab apples, such as John Downie.
